Call for return of civic regalia
COUNCILLOR Lloyd Ward wants civic regalia items to be returned to their original home in Tewkesbury.
Since the local government re-organisation of 1974, two historic maces and other civic regalia have been kept at the Gloucester Road offices of the borough council rather than the town council's town hall base in High Street.
Town councillor Mr Ward says he and other colleagues believe it is time the town had them back.
He has tabled a motion for Monday's town council meeting, seconded by Councillor Mike Reynolds. Mr Ward said: "They belong to us. We may as well have them back on our premises."

“Yes its time Tewkesbury Borough Council was renamed to reflect the area it serves North Gloucestershire District Council.
The Town Council ought to reclaim anything Town related and do some rejuvenation of the Town Hall”
