Visitors were welcomed to Trench Hill in the village yesterday as part of the National Open Gardens scheme, which allows the public into normally private idylls.

Anyone heading outside over the next few days will need to be just as hardy as the little flowers too, with temperatures set to stay close to zero.

It will be cloudy but dry throughout most of the week, according to forecasts, with highs of about 4C.
