US soldier will march out for charity on Forest of Dean run
A DOUBLE dose of distance running by an Innsworth based US soldier will help raise more than £1,000 for charity this spring.
Colonel Steve Quinn, from Virginia Beach, has been assigned to the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps and will be marching at the double when he takes on the Forest of Dean Spring Trails half-marathon on March 24 and then the London marathon on April 21.
He has set himself a target of £1,250, to be split between the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund helping aspiring young athletes and a cancer research centre in Boston, America.
He began running during a stint at the US military training academy in New York in 1998 and was inspired to raise money for charity after his nephew was diagnosed with cancer.
