Taylor has performed consistently with the bat throughout the summer and was the only Gloucestershire batsman to pass the yard-stick mark of 1,000 runs in first class cricket.
In 17 first class appearances, Taylor struck 1,101 runs at an average of 42.34, passing 50 on eight occasions and 100 twice.
Taylor, who also doubles up his duties as the counties fielding coach, was also in profitable form in limited overs cricket, notching 290 runs in 40 and 50 over cricket and 169 runs in the Twenty20 cup.
Irish batsman Will Porterfield was named as young player of the year and former Cheltenham Cricket Club man Steve Snell was rewarded for a breakthrough season with the most improved player accolade.
