Abingdon Town 0

Cinderford Town 2

HE sending off of substitute Tom Davies marred another decent day for the Foresters. Davies and Abingdon striker Billy Beechers both got their marching orders just minutes from the end of the match for throwing punches at each other, following a rash tackle on Steve Cowe by Julian McCalmon.

Davies had only been on the field for six minutes, after replacing defender Dan Heath.

Cinderford were slow out of the blocks, although Jody Bevan forced a smart save from Lee Farrow. The same player also spooned a shot over the bar with only the keeper to beat.

Three minutes after the break, Bevan gratefully fired Cinderford ahead with a 15-yard effort.

Scott Griffin hit a post before Farrow saved a Kris Witcombe penalty, awarded for a push by Abingdon defender Tom Franklin.

Anaclet Odhiambo almost levelled after combining with Beechers, but his shot was finger-tipped over the bar by Matt Bath.

Bevan and Griffin linked up well for Cinderford during the second period, while Jamie Powell was bright and inventive in midfield.

Bevan headed the important second goal from a Cowe free-kick.

Cinderford looked strong at the back again, despite losing skipper Marvin Thompson after only 30 minutes.

Cinderford Town: Matt Bath, Kris Witcombe, Dan Harrison, Marvin Thompson (captain, rep Jamie Powell 30mins), Dan Heath (rep Tom Davies 80mins), Matthew Hearne, Neil Griffiths, Ben Davies, Simon Truman (rep Steve Cowe 70mins), Scott Griffin, Jody Bevan. Subs not used: Craig Tait, Lewis Sommers.
