Relish: We'll be tougher to beat

T was honours even in the Relish household on Saturday as City and Cinderford Town battled out a scoreless draw at the Causeway.
Cinderford, managed by Lee Relish, son of Bath boss John, provided a good workout for City and looked especially solid at the back.
One goal conceded from three matches against Newport County, Gloucester City and Bath is certainly a creditable return.
“We've not worked a lot on organisation yet, so the fact that the players have taken it upon themselves to shoulder responsibility and work things out speaks volumes,” said Lee Relish.
“Bath caused us more problems than Newport and Gloucester, they passed it around and kept the ball for long periods, but we limited them to two or three clear-cut chances.
“Dad was impressed with us, but he knows the lads I've brought in and he knows that people like Dan Heath and Lewis Summers can do a job for us.”
Birmingham City youngsters Deneiro Moore and Tom Ellis played 45 minutes apiece for Bath.
The visitors dominated possession in the first-half with Ali Gibb and Jamie Gosling impressing on either side of midfield, the latter almost setting up a goal for Martin Paul, who was denied by a goal-line clearance.
The second-half was a more even affair, with Paul Evans producing a smart stop to prevent the home side taking the lead.
Dave Gilroy almost grabbed a late winner with a shot across the face of the goal.
Lee Relish added: “The big test for us will be when we have to score goals ourselves, rather than just defend.”
Relish is closer to finalising his squad, but is still waiting on midfielder Marc Richards, currently on holiday in California.
Richard Kear (Mangotsfield) and Jody Bevan (Gloucester City) will not be joining, while Ben Gascoyne has signed for Bishop's Cleeve.
“I wish Ben well, he's dynamic and he's great at beating people,” said Relish.
“But I want to make us harder to beat and we'll be setting up slightly differently this year.
“Ben can be a bit of a luxury player at times.”
MOVING ON: Ben Gascoyne (on ball), has joined Bishop's Cleeve.
