Josh, who lives in Coleford, has been racing for 10 years.
The 17-year-old is one of 10 riders from all over the country to be picked for the ACU Academy squad which helps develop champions.
At the age of three, when he was first hopping onto a BMX bike, Josh was diagnosed as profoundly deaf. However, by the time he was six he was following his dad Phil into motocross. In 2002, Josh won the Motorcycle Industry Association's Outstanding Achievement Award.
Phil said: "He's excelled and has done brilliantly."
Josh has been sponsored by Team Green Kawasaki for the last eight years, but he will no longer be on Team Green once he starts competing in adult races. Phil added: "We will be looking for new sponsors. Eventually, Josh would like to do the Grand Prix and World Championships."
Anyone interested in sponsoring Josh can contact Phil on 07973 884583.
READY TO RIDE: Josh Waterman.
