A SECOND-half Gary Wildin goal gave Ellwood a deserved win at County League new boys B&W Avonside.
It was a good move that produced the winning goal, Daryl Addis picking up the ball and finding Derek Roberts, who crossed for Wildin to score.
Ellwood were dominant for long spells of the match, but struggled to convert the numerous chances that came their way.
The hosts rallied late in the game and had several chances to level, but Alex Goode was in fine form, pulling off a couple of tremendous saves.
Ellwood boss Nick Ranford said: "In pre-season we were scoring lots of goals and conceding quite a few as well. Now, we're not conceding, but we're not scoring as many. I don't know which I'd prefer.
"When it's only 1-0, the game is on the edge, no matter how well you are playing."
