Gloucester City Football Club are facing the fight of their lives for a
place in the Blue Square Conference South.
After winning promotion to the second tier of non-league football the
Tigers now face the prospect of journeys to Blyth Spartans and Workington
if they end up in the Conference North.
Part of the problem arises from the fact Worcester were placed in the
Conference South last year.
Worcester, who are geographically north of both Gloucester and the Tigers’
adopted home ground in Cirencester, were given assurances they will remain
in the same league for at least three seasons.
This means displacing other teams, potentially including Gloucester.
The FA has not yet made its final decision on the leagues and now the club
and its fans are appealing to the top football chiefs to keep the Tigers
in the South.
