Cheltenham Town offer trial to Faroe Islands star

FAROE Islands international midfielder Claus Jorgensen is training with Cheltenham Town as he attempts to earn a contract with the Robins.

The experienced 33-year-old who has over 300 League appearances to his name is without a permanent club after failing to earn a contract with Port Vale in the summer.

He has been playing for big-spending Blue Square North club Fleetwood Town and therefore could be signed to play for the first team despite the deadline for free and loan signings passing last Thursday.

Jorgensen, who has won 10 international caps for the Faroe Islands, the country of his mother's birth, is a left footed player who can operate either on the left or the centre of midfield.

He was brought to England by AFC Bournemouth in 1999 and has since had spells with Bradford City, Coventry and Blackpool.

He has been playing alongside former Cheltenham Town defenders Alan Wright and Michael Taylor at Fleetwood this season, and gave a solid performance in the Cod Army's 1-0 win against Gloucester City.
