Robins set to sign winger
The 20-year-old Australian is set to appear in tomorrow night's home friendly against Bristol Rovers.
Bozanic, who has won international honours at Under-20 level, was loaned out to Blue Square Premier club Woking for a month at the start of this year.
He joined Reading in January 2007, but was hampered by a bout of glandular fever in the summer of 2008.
Allen was keen to add another left-sided option to his attacking weaponry, with the current wingers on his books – David Hutton, Marley Watkins and Josh Low – all right-footed.
"Oliver has a tidy left foot and Reading will help us out and we will give him experience," Allen said.
"He is only young, but they want to send him out and he should be joining us in time to train on Monday and be involved against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.
"There has been a shortage of left-sided players since I have been at a club and he will give us another option on that side."
Allen was speaking after Saturday's creditable 1-1 friendly draw with Coca-Cola Championship club Bristol City.
Cheltenham led through David Bird's well taken free-kick, but City hit back through David Clarkson to claim a draw at the Abbey Business Stadium.
The draw maintained the Robins' unbeaten run this summer and Allen said his players were shaping up nicely as the new season draws ever closer.
"The squad look fit, organised and we have picked up no injuries, so once again there were a lot positives against a team who at one stage looked like they were on their way into the Premier League, so as a group and squad we are looking strong," Allen said.
"They were quicker than us and probably better players, but as a team and a unit we were strong and competitive and you have to say we are coming along nicely."
Allen has signed former Chelsea youngster Jordan Tabor on non-contract terms and big striker Julian Alsop has agreed a month-to-month deal for his second spell with the Robins, six years after leaving the club.
The addition of Bozanic would take the total number of new players signed by Allen this summer to seven.
Triallist midfielder Michael Pook remains a priority, but his arrival is likely to depend on the departure of John Finnigan, who held talks with both Kidderminster Harriers and Newport County last week.
"If one goes out, maybe we might be able to bring one in, but we have to see how things go over the next few days," Allen said.
