ASHLEY VINCENT has signed a three-year deal with Coca-Cola League One club Colchester United.

The former Cheltenham Town forward spent the final two months of the season on loan at the Weston Homes Comm- unity Stadium, scoring against Yeovil Town on the final day.

Vincent, 24, made a total of 69 starts and 62 substitute appearances for the Robins after arriving from Wolves in 2004.

"Signing for Colchester gives me another chance to have a good crack at League One, but in a side that is aiming to play in the Championship," Vincent said. "I want to play at the highest level possible and I feel that I can do that at Colchester United.

"I am aiming to help them get out of the division in what will be a successful season."

Vincent will link up with his former Robins colleague Steven Gillespie at Colchester.

Cheltenham have confirmed that Ian Westlake's contract with the club has been cancell- ed and he is now a free agent.
