KEEN golfers are being invited to tee off to raise thousands of pounds for disabled children.

The James Hopkins Trust, which works to support 300 children and families across Gloucestershire, is holding its annual golf day on May 18.

Organisers are hoping businesses will come forward to sponsor the day, which will take place at the plush surroundings of the Hilton Puckrup Hall in Tewkesbury.

Colin Stoner, development manager at the charity, said: "The golf day is one of our major fund-raising opportunities of the year and we are hoping this will be our biggest and best supported event ever."

It costs £220 for a team of four to enter the competition or £55 per individual.

The price includes bacon butties on arrival, 18 holes of golf and a two-course meal afterwards.

Mr Stoner said: "Businesses are invited to sponsor holes for £60 each if they cannot enter, and any prizes to go into the raffle would also be much appreciated."

Based in Gloucester, the James Hopkins Trust works to support young children across Gloucestershire who are severely disabled.
