Tewkesbury pub beer festival underway

Friday, October 30, 2009, 06:58

A Tewkesbury pub is crossing international boundaries to celebrate its birthday.

To mark the Royal Hop Pole's 30th anniversary, locals are being given the opportunity to enjoy a global tour of beers.

Visitors to its beer festival will be able to sample ales from as far afield as the Czech Republic, New Zealand, the USA and Japan.

Organiser Stuart Coxshall said: "So far it's going really well.

"The first day was great and we've got 35 beers to get through.

"It will be interesting for the locals to see whether they can last the distance but there is a long way to go."

The festival runs through to November 15.
