Any witnesses to the collision that have not yet spoken to officers are asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 15 of March 7.

“Bellyflop, which vehicle(s) are you saying probably aren't taxed or insured? If you mean the lorry, then I assume that the police would already have checked. I drive down that road frequently, and I'm correctly taxed, insured and MOT'd.
When vehicles are written off, the owners rarely get the replacement value, so I don't see that the collision would be a blessing in disguise for the owner of the Sharan; anyway, I can't detect that it is "well rotten". Testing stations should employ L804XDG instead of vehicle testers!”

“That 406 will get scrapped and looks like the damage to the sharan was a blessing in disguise for its owners, it looks well rotten!”

“FreeRadical1 - possibly yes, given the time of day (or rather, night) that it happened. He passed the breath test so it wasn't down to drink, but there's no test (as far as I'm aware) to tell whether the driver was asleep at the time.
But it could also have been caused by a mechanical issue with the lorry, or he swerved to avoid something on the road, or just maybe he swerved to avoid another vehicle acting incorrectly.
Just as well that it happened at 2am and not 2pm, as the road would have been somewhat busier then. Although the damaged cars might not have been there at 2pm. Anyway, that's what insurance is for, and nobody was hurt. A lorry hitting 4 cars could have been an awful lot worse.”

“Don't all jump down my throat - I know that I didn't witness the collision - but that looks like the result of the driver falling asleep.”

“Ah, now we have photos. That Peugeot 406 is a mess, and will probably be written off. The lorry driver's insurers are going to be busy.”
