The year 2012 will be poor for viewing the Severn Bore
No good bores are forecast for February. It will mean a wait until the weekend of Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March before a decent Severn bore will approach Gloucester. Even then it is only forecast as a "three star" bore, not one of the best.
Times and places to view the Severn bore are: Saturday 10th March at Minsterworth is 09:11am, at Stonebench is 09:26am and at Over Bridge is 09:46am. Sunday 11th March at Minsterworth is 09:50am, at Stonebench is 10:05am and at Over Bridge is 10:25am.

Dave Lawson and fellow surfer from Bordeaux out surfing the River Severn bore.
Chris Witts, River Severn historian, says, "The past few years have proved to be disappointing to see a decent Severn bore at Gloucester. This year will be no different as we are still in a poor lunar cycle." Chris added, "To produce a good bore the River Severn has to have the right amount of water in it, the correct barometric pressure and a good wind in the right direction. If one of these are missing then the bore is just a medicore one!"
