And one of his upcoming gigs includes the first ever concert at Kingsholm.

Nathan, 18, from pop group The Wanted, will perform at Gloucester Rugby's ground on May 29. And he says it was something he always wanted to do.

Nathan, whose mum and sister Jess live in Abbeydale, said: "It was definitely something I wanted to do from a young age. There was a newspaper I used to get called The Stage and I used to flick through it and say mum, mum this is what I want to do next.

"She was always saying to concentrate on my school work first. She never said not to go into singing but I wanted to do it so much I often put it above school work.

"When I went to Sylvia Young (Theatre School) when I was given a scholarship it gave me the chance to do some more singing. We did three days of academic work and the others on drama and singing."

Nathan went to Longlevens Junior School, then turned down a place at The Crypt for a scholarship at Sylvia Young Theatre School in London before returning to Ribston Hall High School for the sixth form.

But just weeks into starting at Ribston, he learned he had finally made it and was one of five boys to make up band The Wanted.

He said: "I was in The Door's Undiscovered competition and a few bits and pieces on television. I was part of a competition judged by Britney Spears and a song writing one for Junior Eurovision on ITV 2 so it was all good fun and practice."

In 2002, an eight-year-old Nathan beat thousands of contenders for the karaoke title on the Karaoke Kriminals programme on BBC One.

Nathan made another television appearance in 2004, when at age 11, he appeared on ITV's Ministry of Mayhem in a mock X Factor competition.

At 14, he appeared in the regional finals of the Live and Unsigned competition in 2008.

But in 2010, with his band The Wanted, Nathan enjoyed a meteoric ascent to super-stardom thanks to the debut single All Time Low.

All Time Low climbed to number one in the charts at the start of August.

Since then Nathan, along with bandmates Max George, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Siva Kaneswaran, has had a number of chart hits, played in numerous concerts and is now enjoying their first tour.

But he said one of the best bits will be May 29 when they perform at Kingsholm.

He said: "To play at Kingsholm it is one of the things on my top 10 things I want to do. It is something I am really, really looking forward to. I will be wearing my Gloucester Rugby shirt that day and it is going to be absolutely mental.

"I think all my family and friends are coming. More and more keep saying they will be there so it should be good."
